Jader Bignamini is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he has conducted concert performances of Verdi's Oberto, performances of Il trovatore and a new production of La forza del destino,  for Rigoletto. This Italian artist took up the post of Chief Conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in 2020/21 and plans this season include Gianni Schicchi at the Canadian Opera Company. He recently made his debuts at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, with Madama Butterfly,  the Vienna State Opera and the Nationale Opera in Amsterdam. Other recent engagements have included Cavalleria rusticana at Michigan Opera Theatre, Manon Lescaut at the Bolschoi in Moscow, La traviata and Andrea Chénier in Tokyo, La Bohème at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, La traviata and Turandot in Verona and the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Madama Butterfly and I puritani at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo and Aida and Il trovatore at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome. Bignamini has appeared in concert with many of the leading orchestras in Europe, as well as the Detroit Symphony, Dallas Symphony and Houston Symphony orchestras. He goes on tour regularly with Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov and is a regular guest at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Maggio Musicale in Florence and Teatro Municipal in São Paulo. He began his artistic career as a clarinettist with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi (la Verdi) under Riccardo Chailly, who he began assisting in 2010. Now a regular guest conductor there he has been in charge of symphonic orchestral concerts with the Milan Symphony Orchestra since 2012. A belcanto CD, Spirito, with Marina Rebeka and the Orchester des Teatro Massimo was released in 2018.
