The American soprano Sara Jakubiak, who has been a member of the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt since 2014/15, adds two new roles to her repertoire this season: Ellen Orford in the new production of Peter Grimes and Freia in Das Rheingold.  She recently enjoyed great success with the title role in Korngold's Das Wunder der Heliane at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.  Roles with which she has enjoyed great success in Frankfurt have included Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Maria (Křenek's Der Diktator), Marta (Weinberg's Die Passagierin/The (female) Passenger) and Lina (Stiffelio) - all new productions - Polina (Der Spieler/The Gambler), Marietta (Korngold's Die tote Stadt/The Dead City), Primadonna / Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos), Alice Ford (Falstaff)  and the Goose-girl (Humperdinck's Königskinder). Other recent engagements have included Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Marietta in Die tote Stadt at the Hamburg State Opera, Polina (Der Spieler/The Gambler) at the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, Elsa (Lohengrin) at Graz Opera, Marie (Wozzek) at English National Opera, Agathe (Der Freischütz) under Christian Thielemann at the Semper Oper in Dresden and operas in concert: Die Fledermaus under Zubin Mehta in Tel Aviv, The Turn of the Screw with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, a role Howard Hanson's Merry Mount, which was commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera New York, in the Carnegie Hall, Bernstein's A Quiet Place in New York, the first performances in America of Bernard Herrmann's Wuthering Heights and Montemezzi's L'amore dei tre re with the the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra under Łukasz Borowicz. Sara Jakubiak has recorded songs by Charles Ives for Naxos, part of their »American Classics« series. She received the »Judith Raskin Memorial Award« from Santa Fe Opera in 2007.
