The Sardinian tenor Piero Pretti is appearing at Oper Frankfurt for the first time. He began his career at the opera houses in Ravenna, Rome, Turin, Ferrara, Verona, Pisa, Palermo and Naples with roles including Rodolfo (La Bohème), Alfredo (La traviata), Achill (Iphigénie en Aulide), Arrigo (I vespri siciliani), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto) and Ismaele (Nabucco). He sings regularly at La Scala Milan, where he made his debut in 2012, singing Rodolfo in Luisa Miller. Piero Pretti now performs at leading opera houses all over the world including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Vienna, Munich and Hamburg state operas, the Teatro Real in Madrid, Grand Théâtre in Geneva, Korean National Opera, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Concertgebouw Amsterdam and at the Edinburgh International Festival. Other plans this season include Macduff in Macbeth at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera at the Vienna State Opera and Opéra National in Paris, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Gualtiero in Il pirata at La Scala and Puccini's Rodolfo in Madrid.
