Holger Falk is equally at home in baroque, classic and contemporary operatic repertoire. Now he is back in Frankfurt, where he enjoyed great success in Eötvös' Der goldene Drache / The Golden Dragon and the title role in a new production of Trojahn's Enrico, to perform in Benedict Mason's Chaplin Operas. Other plans this season include Jaufré Rudel in Kaja Saariaho's L'Amour de loin at Cologne Opera and the title role in G. F. Haas’ Thomas at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, where he sang Peter Maxwell Davies’ Eight Songs for a Mad King last season. He will also take part in the world premiere of Chaya Czernowin's Atara with the Vienna RSO at Wien Modern and return to the Vienna Konzerthaus with Klangforum Wien. Recent engagements have included Chandos (world premiere of Trojahn's Ein Brief / A Letter) at Oper Bonn, Kassandra (Xenakis‘ Oresteia) and Lord Byron (world premiere of Wertmüller's Diodati. Unendlich / Never Ending) at Theater Basel, Stolzius (Die Soldaten) at Hessen's Wiesbaden Staatstheater, Joseph (Srnka's Make no Noise) at the Bregenz Festival, Lucifer (world premiere of Eötvös Paradise reloaded) in Budapest, Aki (Wertmüller's Weine nicht, singe! / Don't Cry, sing!) at the Hamburg State Opera, Nunte (Hasse's Leucippo) at the Schwetzingen Festival and Cortez (Rihm's Die Eroberung von Mexiko / The Conquest of Mexico) at the Teatro Real in Madrid. He appears regularly in concert with contemporary music ensembles including Klangforum Wien, the Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Resonanz, NRW's Musikfabrik, the Doelen Ensemble Rotterdam, Basel Sinfonietta and baroque music ensembles such as Elyma Genève (Monteverdi's Orfeo), Elbipolis Hamburg (Graupner's Dido), Concerto Köln (Hasse's Leucippo) and the Kammerakademie Potsdam (Mendelssohn's Elijah). His recording: Erik Satie – Intégrale des Mélodies et Chansons erhielt won a 2016 Echo Klassik for »Best Lieder Recording« and the first ever complete recording of Hanns Eisler's Lieder won the 2017 German Recording's Critics prize. Holger Falk is a Professor for Lieder interpretation and contemporary music at the University of the Arts in Graz.
