Vlad Iftinca, who was born in Romania, is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he made his debut in 2015 with Lucia di Lammermoor. He is currently employed by the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where he assists conductors including James Levine, Sir Andrew Davis, Valery Gergiev and Marco Armiliato. He recently conducted Il barbiere di Siviglia at Tricities Opera, Britten's A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Turn of the Screw in Canada and Lucia di Lammermoor at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. He is also a much sought after pianist and has appeared in recital with artists including Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Elza van den Heever, Deborah Voigt, Thomas Hampson and Matthew Rose at halls including the Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Palau des Arts in Valencia, Los Angeles Opera, the Seoul Performing Arts Center, Ravinia Festival and Oper Frankfurt. After studying in Madrid he joined the renowned Juilliard School in New York, where he conducted Rossini's La cambiale di matrimonio and La scala di seta. Future engagements include La Cenerentola at Stuttgart Opera.
